Jacob Collins

Jacob Collins is one of the most interesting characters in Trailer Park Boys. Originally appearing in season one, Jacob appeared as a minor character throughout the show until season seven, when he became one of the boys’ employee’s. From seasons one to six, Jacob had minor appearances, often working odd jobs and being a victim of various crimes perpetrated by the boys. Starting with season seven however, he began to work with Julian and the rest of the boys. This was due to many reasons, most notably the absence of Corey and Trevor (at the beginning of season seven, the duo were forced into a mental institution) and the great respect that Jacob had towards Julian.
Jacob is the son of Phill Collins and he has a brother, Thomas Collins. Due to his family’s focus on work ethic and respect for law enforcement, Jacob often finds himself in situations where he must choose between his family and the boys, leading to lots of conflict. Eventually however, Jacob enters a relationship with Ricky’s daughter Trinity, resulting in him becoming a father to Ricky’s grandchild. Since then, Ricky has tried to help Jacob become a better person in life and he has developed a great bond with Jacob. At the end of the day, Jacob is one of the boys’ best allies and he remains an integral part of Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

Ricky's Maple Syrup Honey Oil

At the end of season eight, Ricky makes an important discovery: how to make maple syrup flavored cannabis oil. While this may seem insignificant at first, this discovery is actually really important for several reasons. At the beginning of season eight, Barb Lahey and Sam Losco get a divorce, resulting in a split of their assets. This means that Sam owns 49.5% of the trailer park and as a result, he partners with Cyrus to try and buy, steal or take Barb’s shares in the park and then sell the park to a landscaping company. To stop this from happening, all of the park’s residents are forced to team up to earn enough money to buy out Sam’s share in the park. To do this, the boy’s decide that the best way to make a lot of money is to turn Ricky’s stash of weed into honey oil. Through a series of unfortunate events, Corey and Jacob accidently put the new oil in a large container that was already partially filled with maple syrup. This ends up giving the new oil a unique, maple syrup taste, which makes the oil irresistible to buyers. Because of this new recipe, the boys are able to make enough money to save the park from Sam and Cyrus

The Hash Driveway

During season five, the boys struggle over one very important thing: their newly created hash driveway. At the beginning of the season, the boys get out of jail and find themselves broke and homeless, requiring them to stay with Ray for the time being. As a result of this, the boys get extremely desperate in their schemes to make money. Julian comes up with an idea to rob Cyrus and his henchman Terry and Dennis, thus earning them several kilos of hash. Once they realize just how much hash they stole, the boys decide the best way to hide it is in plain sight. In the dark of night, the trio melts down the hash and they form it into a fake driveway in front of Ray’s trailer. As time goes on, the boys sell the hash little by little, leaving Lahey, Randy and the police completely clueless of what’s going on

Steve French

During season four, the boys meet a very strange and unlikely friend: Steve French. Steve French, who gets his name from Bubbles, is a cougar who takes residence near a marijuana field the boys are growing. As a result of this, Steve French is constantly stoned and according to bubbles, is addicted to weed. During season four, the boys make it their goal to help relocate Steve French to a safer place to live, as he is under constant threat from Lahey and Randy at the trailer park. Steve is known for taking a great liking to Trevor, as he frequently wears a leopard-print jacket in season four. Eventually, after a lot of work and effort, the boys are able to move Steve French to a safe location away from the trailer park, where Steve runs off into the woods to live his new life. He has not been seen in the series since

The Dirty Burger

During season seven of Trailer Park Boys, Phill Collins and Randy band together to open a fast food truck, which they name The Dirty Burger. This food truck becomes a very important part of the show, but what most people don’t realize is that, technically, The Dirty Burger appears in the show starting with season two, not season seven. The food truck was originally owned by Sam Losco, who moved into Sunnyvale Trailer Park at the beginning of season two due to the boys, in the previous season, getting his veterinary clinic shut down. As time goes on, Sam continues to live in this same vehicle until season 7, at which point Sam sells it to Phill Collins. The car then gets re-worked into the restaurant known as The Dirty Burger until it is unfortunately burned to the ground in Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It.

The Way of the Road

It’s the way of the road, bud. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn’t. This time she didn’t go. It’s the way of the road.” This is a phrase spoken by Ray in season five of Trailer Park Boys. Throughout the series, Ray constantly tells the boys that things happen because “it’s the way of the road.” This single phrase has a very deep meaning in the big picture of the show. While at first glance it seems more like drunken advice than anything, it actually holds a lot of deep and insightful truth. The meaning of the phrase is that both good and bad things happen in life and sometimes we can’t control when or if they happen. This single piece of advice has helped Bubbles, Ricky and Julian greatly throughout the show and continues to be a huge part of Ray’s legacy after his “death.” It’s a phrase that will forever be entwined in Trailer Park Boys.
