Jacob Collins is one of the most interesting characters in Trailer Park Boys. Originally appearing in season one, Jacob appeared as a minor character throughout the show until season seven, when he became one of the boys’ employee’s. From seasons one to six, Jacob had minor appearances, often working odd jobs and being a victim of various crimes perpetrated by the boys. Starting with season seven however, he began to work with Julian and the rest of the boys. This was due to many reasons, most notably the absence of Corey and Trevor (at the beginning of season seven, the duo were forced into a mental institution) and the great respect that Jacob had towards Julian.
Jacob is the son of Phill Collins and he has a brother, Thomas Collins. Due to his family’s focus on work ethic and respect for law enforcement, Jacob often finds himself in situations where he must choose between his family and the boys, leading to lots of conflict. Eventually however, Jacob enters a relationship with Ricky’s daughter Trinity, resulting in him becoming a father to Ricky’s grandchild. Since then, Ricky has tried to help Jacob become a better person in life and he has developed a great bond with Jacob. At the end of the day, Jacob is one of the boys’ best allies and he remains an integral part of Sunnyvale Trailer Park.
I think it is cool how a character can start off a minor character and then seasons later gain a larger part in the TV show's production. It really makes you think about how paths can cross multiple times in our huge world that makes it seem so small.
